MetroMan Was Built From the Inside Out

Most brands sell you a lifestyle. MetroMan lived it.

Before there was a store, there was a man who spent years inside the professional grooming industry — not as a customer, but as someone who helped shape it. That experience is the foundation of everything you'll find here.

Where It Started

In 1994, a young company called American Crew had three products and a vision: that men deserved professional-grade grooming, not afterthoughts.

Kenneth Brown believed in that vision before almost anyone on the West Coast did.

As a sales representative for West Coast Beauty Supply — the largest professional hair care distributor in the United States — Kenneth was one of the people who physically launched American Crew across the entire San Francisco Bay Area. From 1994 to 1998, he walked into barbershops and salons, built relationships with licensed professionals, and put those products in the hands of stylists who had never seen anything quite like them.

He didn't just sell. He educated. He believed.

By the time it was over, he had come in first place in Bay Area sales — and was awarded a TAG Heuer watch in recognition of that achievement.

Every year, West Coast Beauty Supply hosted its Annual Hair Show in San Jose, California — a premier two-day event that brought together the top cutting and styling talent from every major professional hair care company in the country. Redken. Matrix. Loreal Professional. Rusk. Paul Mitchell. American Crew. Kenra.

Barbers and cosmetologists traveled from across Northern California to attend. Industry leaders presented. Trends were set.

Kenneth was there — not as a spectator, but as part of the American Crew team. Those rooms, those conversations, and those relationships gave him a front-row seat to the highest level of men's grooming at a defining moment in its history.

The Man Behind the Brand

At one of those events, Kenneth met David Raccuglia — the barber and entrepreneur who founded American Crew and, in doing so, helped redefine what men's personal care could look like. Kenneth met him more than once. Those encounters left a mark.

“He built something real. A brand rooted in craft, in barbershop culture, in the idea that a man who takes care of himself isn’t vain — he’s disciplined.”

That philosophy never left.

Why MetroMan Exists

Decades later, the grooming industry has exploded. Every brand claims to be premium. Every product claims to perform. The noise is overwhelming — and most of it isn’t built on anything real.

MetroMan is different — because it’s curated by someone who was there when the standards were being set.

Every product on this site has been chosen with intention: for its formulation, its performance, and its fit for the modern man who takes his routine seriously. No filler. No hype. Just the brands and products that actually work — selected by someone who spent years proving it.

The Standard

MetroMan exists for the man who understands that grooming isn’t vanity — it’s discipline. It’s the details that signal how you carry yourself. It’s the ritual that starts your day with intention.

We carry skincare, haircare, beard care, body care, fragrance, leather goods, and apparel — all chosen to serve one man: the one who shows up prepared.

Welcome to MetroMan. You’re in the right place.
